Honor Your Dog
I had the incredible opportunity to judge all Novice and Advanced classes this past weekend at the SPDTC trial in Cannon Falls. It reminded me what a privilege it is to share our world with our dogs. One search in particular drove this home. One advanced container search had two rows of plastic toolboxes and one row of cardboard boxes. The two hides were in tool boxes. Every dog focused on plastic tool boxes. No dog showed interest in the cardboard boxes on their own. In another search there was a hide in a plastic toolbox and one in a cardboard box. All the dogs searched all containers. Just incredible the power of their nose to acquire such specific scent pictures to know what’s going on in these searches. Honor them.
